Question of the Day What is the best way to create "Buzz"?
Personally, I like viral and guerilla marketing methods. The idea that something is different and non-traditional enough to make people sit up,take notice and and eventually spread the "buzz for you by forwarding emails and speaking to their friends about "what they just saw."
As much as people hate the creepy Burger King "King," it has obviously got people talking about him. And parodying him. And dressing up as him.
Sex and controversy are popular, but not necessarily effective. There was a whole lotta buzz around the commercials that showed Paris Hilton eating a burger while inexplicably writhing around washing a car. But sales actually went down, even though everyone was talking about it.
I think viral and guerrilla marketing is also excellent (again, respecting the fetus). The challenge is to create something fun and interesting and get people to start talking abou it. In a world where it seems everything has been done before, how do you find that niche that allows you to be unique and different??? I would concur about BK - although the Big Cluckin Chicken freaks me out. I think another great way to create a buzz is to be different in HOW you do business and get people talking about that - not necesarily about the product.
